When they are asked to envisage wall beds in NZ, it’s fair to assume that most Kiwis will imagine a conventional vertical wall bed. This is the most common type of wall bed in the world and is one that stands on its end as it is stored. Because of this orientation, there needs to be enough space for the bed and its cabinetry to fit comfortably under ceiling height when it is in its vertical storage position.
Of course, there will be times when vertical is just too tall. Not every home has ceilings high enough to fit vertical beds and their cabinets. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for a wall bed in such a home. Introducing our horizontal wall beds, which overcome a lack of ceiling height! The horizontal orientation of such a bed means it is stored on its side, which makes it the perfect option for homes with lower ceilings. Many of our customers are surprised that such a set-up exists – they assumed that all wall beds were vertical. They’re not, of course. Our horizontal beds offer the same level of comfort, take up minimal floor space like their vertical counterparts, and provide another sleeping space in smaller homes with a limited number of rooms.
As you’ll see on our website, the installation of a horizontal wall bed is a very decorative addition to your home. The cabinetry around the bed is super trendy and has very clean lines, and you can accessories with pops of colour to really make a show of it. But we also have another 45 Melamine colours to choose from including Black Pearl and Silver Strata so your horizontal wall bed will not only fit into the physical space – it will perfectly fit with your existing wall colours and decor too.
